Help Cut Energy Costs

Help Cut Energy Costs Debra Walsh

With summer more than on it’s way, here are a few ways to help with higher utility bills:

  • Change to a programmable thermostat (set it no lower than 79 degrees, and you will save a TON)
  • Seal all air leaks around doors, windows, etc.
  • Leave your ceiling fans on 24/7 (make sure they are blowing DOWN to help keep everything cool)
  • Put appliances and electronics on a surge protector with an “on/off” switch; turn it off during the day to save quite a bit of energy and $$
  • Run the washer, dryer and dishwasher at night
  • Use cold water on all of your laundry loads (except whites)
  • Turn your refrigerator temp. down slightly
  • Buy energy efficient appliances when your old ones burn out
  • Turn down the thermostat on your hot water heater
  • Use a low flow shower head

You will see significant changes in your utility bill if you use these tips!!  GOOD LUCK!!
